Hi there.

I am trying to setup YATE on my router (Netgear WNDR3700 with OpenWRT). I build my own version of OpenWRT from trunk and compile whatever I want in it. YATE is available but there are tons and tons of modules within YATE. I don't know which ones to include in the build and which ones are optional.

If you're familiar, please help me out.
I've also asked around on the yate mailing list. I plan to document things as I go so that when I get things to work, I can post it up for others to use as well.

regards,
Chirag

I asked the question in yate mailing list. Bill Simon kindly point that it is answered in:

http://yate.null.ro/archive/?action=show_msg&actionargs[]=67&actionargs[]=67

Basically I need to add the following lines into regexroute.conf to fix the problem that there is no ring back when calling out using googl voice:

[extra]
call.ringing=50

[call.ringing]
.*=;earlymedia=no

This is an excellent guide. I following this and it worked.

But there is one problem. When I make calls through a sip client that connects to the yate server, I cannot here the ring back. I can see the sip client says "remote ringing" but I just cannot hear the ring tone. When the other side answers, I can communicate with the other side without any problem.

Do you have same issue?

one thing about this that sucks, is you have to run squid in "transparent" mode,

if you try to run this configuration with a normal squid proxy it WILL NOT WORK. Wish someone would post the alternate configuration for successfully routing traffic to a normal squid thats not running in transparent mode.

FreeSWITCH is a much mature product in comparison to Yate. Also you can install FreeSwitch in your Wifi routers and it will turn your router into Obi110 like device in addition to normal internet connectivity. the problem of Yate is not able to comple for routers but i am sure in some days that would be possible with yate, But yate lacks some very important features as of now and compiling yate is not that easy.

I recommend to use FreeSwitch as it can do whatever is documented in this article.

Thank you very much for the information!

FYI, this is the tarball you need for Ubuntu 10.04 (your first note): http://yate.null.ro/tarballs/yate3/yate-3.3.2-1.tar.gz

Thanks, It worked on windows!

Just some glitches may be i will write an article on setting this up on windows, It is almost the same as you have put in here, just minor changes such as editing yiaxchan.conf to change the port of iax if you are encountering IAX read errors. Just need to make sure by running:

yate-console.exe -vvvvv -l log.txt

This will dump a detailed log file that may help.
